#Flirc remote raspberry pi how to
So, mainly, if I remember correclty after such a long time, I fiddled with the volume buttons and the up/down/left/right buttons in different menus of kodi. Use Your Remote Control in Kodi on Raspberry Pi 3 Using FLIRC: In this Instructable, you are going to learn how to configure your remote control to use it with Kodi using FLIRC. You can try searching for 'raspberry pi power management' or 'atxraspi'. There are some projects that add power management to Flirc using additional circuit boards and connection to GPIO ports for communication.

Setting up a remote control with so less buttons kept me thinking any trying a lot of things.even made me smarter. Raspberry Pi doesn't have any power management feature so you can't control the power state using USB devices only (Flirc included). It took me a couple of days playing arount, BUT it was fun too.

In short, I'm happy, I managed to fit the mappings to my "needs". Maybe I'll try it again, but the Keymapping feature of Kodi is so flexible and powerful, that is is not that easy to set up all the keys in all the different menus. I don't miss the long press anymore, since I just mapped that to a single click on the play/pause button, but hey.the last days I've read, that kodi will supporting a long press :-) Well.ok. The FLIRC USB dongle allows the use of any remote control with your Media Centre, XBMC Media Centre or Raspberry Pi Media Centre. Now, a year later, I have used the silver apple remote control with my customized settings/mappings, I must say, its working quite well. Basically you need to create a keyboard.xml file in the Kodi userdata directory with mappings you want to override.
